The Korean TV drama “The Girl Who Sees Smells,” starring K-pop singer Park Yoo-chun and actress Shin Se-kyung, is being broadcast in Japan and four other Asian countries.

The part-fantasy romantic TV drama premiered Wednesday evening in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia on TV channel S ONE, according to Korean broadcaster SBS.

The 16-episode drama series will be broadcast in Japan on the KNTV channel from July 24, after a preview broadcast on Thursday at 10 p.m.

“The Girl Who Sees Smells” is also scheduled to be broadcast in the Philippines and Taiwan on TV channels ABS-CBN and GTV respectively, sometime between July and August.

Korean broadcaster SBS is currently holding discussions to air “The Girl Who Sees Smells” in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Taiwan.

“Various Asian countries responded positively to the TV series even before its official release, which is why (SBS) has decided to export the drama,” an SBS spokesperson said. The series kicked off on April 1.

“The Girl Who Sees Smells” stars actress Shin Se-kyung in the lead role as a girl with supernatural sensory perception, such as the ability to “see” smells.

She encounters the male lead character, played by Park Yoo-chun from trio JYJ, who has lost all sensory perception.

The TV drama, also known as the “Sensory Couple,” also stars actors Namgoong Kim and Yoon Jin-seo in supporting roles.
